Click on visual/sound to see the material from a pre-workshop event "retinal reaction" that asks for spontanious concepts and terms inspired by frames (pictures) taken from films from the first workshop. The first station at the Re-Act workshop compared the comments of the single framed retinal reactions to the experince of watching the entire transformation of material on the documentary films and discussing the different sequenses of the experiment in a group. ( The results of this workshop activity are now being discussed within the retinal reation group : Catharina Dyrssen, Fredirk Berefelt, Elisabet Yanagisawa Avén, Cheryl Akner Koler.)

This cross diciplinary study looks into the possiblity of creating aesthetical terminology for art and science. Our ambition is not to create a dictionary with short and concise defintions but rather to link words with phenomena and offer insight into the process and situation in which these phenomena were being explored and discussed. The above heading >terminology< is missleading since our focus has been on processes of tranformation and growth that inspire, in themselves, pluralistic approach to explaining concepts. We share a common physical experince that is central to all of the material gathered on this websight . We summarize different percpetual events that expresses themsleves within the on-going process. The material we are invovled in is not stable so our aesthetical discussions are constantly adapting to the next chain of events. We have therefore tend to have more process-based discussions rather then object-based. Since we are a very hetrogenic group in terms of: interest, gender, age and culture then we, as members, in the workshops create a complex system. Our terms and concepts should reflect that complexity.
!!!!!: This section will be active in the autumn of 2005. We have just finished a workshop entitle Re-Act 2004 10 15-16 which delt with reviewing the material from the earlier workhops to develope terminology and ways to present our documentary films.

A summary from the discussions from the group "Retinal Reaction": by Catharina Dyrssen - att man kan närma sig det fula, bortträngda, den "fjärde kvadranten" Hej Catharina Tack för den kompakta sammanfattning av våra discutioner. I första fallet står föremålet och perceptionen i centrum. |
